As I am getting ready to go to the office I can hear the Gulf of Mexico roaring due to a storm system in the Gulf.  There are times in our life when adversity hits. While overcoming adversity, avoid isolation. In times of difficulty, we can’t afford to isolate ourselves. We can’t afford to run from the battle. When adversity strikes we need to run to the battle. scripture declares, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind” (1 Timothy 1:7). David saw God as a Man of War. He saw God as his Great Deliverer. Many times David asked the Lord during prayer, “Shall I go up to battle?” And God responded, “Go up!”

Speak to your situation like this: “Adversity, it is written, no weapon formed against me can prosper. I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. Thank you, Jesus, that you renew my strength. I shall not grow weary. I shall not faint. I will overcome in Jesus’ name.” Find a scripture that deals with your situation, hold fast to it, and speak it over your life. This works. Go for it.

One more thing to help you overcome adversity – get back to church. God’s Word is very specific: don’t forsake the assembling of yourself together with other believers (Hebrews 4:9). Listen, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Isolation is not healthy. Find a good Bible-believing church where the power of changed lives is visible. Plug in and help that church fulfill its vision

Life Is Short

Life is too short, don’t spend your time gossiping or slandering each other to make yourself feel better. Stop looking at their faults, people are not perfect there is good in everybody if you look hard enough ! That person that you’re gossiping or slandering just might not know their potential yet. Where others have failed you, learn to forgive . That resentment that your carrying will only hurt you!! MoveOn and walk in love, let’s celebrate each-others victories instead of talking about what someone did or did not do according to your standards. Don’t let your past determine your future!! God has an awesome plan for you, clear the wreckage of your past and go find it !!

I am always amazed at what God uses to bring His children closer to Him. Jesus taught in parables, using all kinds of natural things ,to bring about a spiritual lesson. One Saturday afternoon I was walking with my beautiful wife Lynette, in downtown Venice. I noticed a car show going on in the parking lot by the gazebo. What caught my eye was a beautiful 1969 black GTO it looked as though it came right off the showroom floor. Ray the owner told me, while restoring the car he would get it to a certain condition and say thats good enough , but he would not quit until it was perfect. Every nut and bolt was shinny new, even the parts not visible were replaced.
Totally Restored!!
God spoke to me that day and said you are like this car perfectly restored. By Jesus death, burial and resurrection every dent, rusty bolt, broken part of the past has been forgiven. Let us celebrate this Easter season in Restoration.

It must be true

There is a lot of information on the internet both good and bad. The Bible tells us we need to grow up, quit being like children believing everything we hear. There must be a standard that we hold ourselves to, like the Word spoken by God (Bible). In Ephesians 4:14-15 it talks about this very thing “ that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head Christ”

The Word of God is the stabilizer of our life keeping us anchored in the truth.

What do you believe? Who do you believe in? Do you believe in a power greater than yourself? For me, I realize I cannot do it alone, been there and tried that. I have many friends-recovery friends, church friends, long time friends, best of friends, then I have many acquaintances, business and personal . But I ponder on this Jesus said,” without me you can do nothing”, but the Bible says, “ I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” (Phil 4:13) I ponder over psalm 91 how God says he will protect us, deliver us, and work for those who abide in him, those who make him their habitation, their constant dwelling place, he will let no evil befall us, and he does all of this through his name and all he requires is just live one day at a time, put him first daily, the old has passed away, all things have been made new. I don’t know about you but it sure is a great way to start my day!! How about you?
